It's time for another edition of New @ the Box Office, where every Friday we preview the hottest new movies hitting theaters for the upcoming weekend.
First up this week is the only movie that really matters this weekend, New Moon. This is the second movie based on the four-book Twilight series written by Stephanie Meyer. After pre-sales this movie has already basically won the weekend box-office, and by the time everything is said and done estimates say New Moon will pull in $85 million total this weekend. You know the whole story Taylor Lautner is a werewolf, Jacob Black and Rob Pattinson plays a vampire, Edward Cullen - both of whom are in love with Kristen Stewart's character, Bella Swan (neither a vampire or werewolf.)
While New Moon is targeting everyone tweleve and up, the second new release this weekend is going for those alittle too young for the complicated Jacob-Bella-Edward love triangle. Planet 51 is an animated film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, as the voice of an American astronaut. Johnson's character is the first astronaut to step on a planet called - you guessed it - Planet 51. At that point he finds alien's running around, and must then leave the planet before he is captured and stuck there forever. Jessica Biel also lends her voice to this film.
The final new release this weekend is also getting some serious press and that is, The Blind Side. This film like New Moon is also based on a book, but unlike New Moon, this film is a true story. Michael Lewis wrote the feel good story about Michael Oher, an african-american teen without a home or a true family. He was taken in by an upper-class white family and in the end both sides learn lessons and Michael's dream came true. Michael became an all-american football player, and is now in the NFL playing for the Baltimore Ravens.
So, what is EntUpdates Must-See New Release of the Weekend?
Honestly, we can not pick! We say go see them all it's a toss-up. All three will do very well this weekend. Not a bad mad movie in bunch.
