What Was Up With That Last Scene?

It's all over, yet this morning even more people are talking about it. We're of course referring to MTV's The Hills which aired it's series finale last night, but today people are wondering about the show's final scene. After sending the cast members their seperate ways, a camera pans out and reveals all the staff members who were working on the show. Of course, the show has always come under fire for how real or unreal it was. So, was this an admission by the producers that it was all fake, or was it simply a thank you to the hard working crew who had to put up with all the d-list stars for 102 episodes?
