Well, that was a bit rough.
We are down now to the top 20, as evidenced by the new picture below (with just twenty people pictured in it.) Last week, we did pretty well - except of course the whole Ashley Rodriguez thing - but other than that ... we had Janell Wheeler as the twelfth ranked girl, Joe Munoz ranked as the eleventh guy, and Tyler Grady as the ninth guy. No huge shocks on our part.
This week, four more contestants go home, and as the result of an emergency last minute switch, the guys will be performing on Tuesday with the girls performing on Wednesday. Media outlets are reporting the reason for the switch has to do with a medical issue with contestant Crystal Bowersox. Ryan Seacrest has confirmed those reports on his twitter.
After the jump, our second set of rankings, and if you agree or don't, feel free to sound off!
So here we go - let's try this again, the number in parentheses is the number we ranked the contestant last week.
From last week's show here is what we found: Randy and Simon are wrong, this couldn't possibly be a girl's year, unless someone really steps up their game. While, the girls may be a deeper bunch, they don't have the best singers. None of the girls have star written on them, at least some of the guys have potential.
The Girls (Performing Wednesday, 8/7c on FOX)
10) Haeley Vaughn (8)
We'll we got the horrendous performance we were expecting, she can thank the Vote For the Worst group who kept her in the competition this week. Two weeks of live performances not bad for someone who can't hit a high note or stay on pitch.
9) Katelyn Epperly (11)
We still can't remember this girl, that's not a good thing.
8) Paige Miles (10)
Certainly not the best singer as Simon suggested, was it perhaps the background singer Sir Cowell heard? The ones who totally drowned out Ms. Miles' vocal?
7) Didi Benami (4)
As Randy might say, we just don't get her vibe (dawg.) She seems to be a little more out there than some of the other off-beat girls this season, and just can't match up vocally with Crystal or Lilly.
6) Lacey Brown (3)
We are keeping the faith for Lacey. She was clearly very, very ... very nervous last week. If she gets over those nerves, she could go deep into the competiton.
5) Katie Stevens (6)
Sorry producers, not this year. She might be great in theater class, but not so much on American Idol.
4) Michelle Delamore (9)
The girl who gained the most spots this week, and she wasn't even that praised by the judges, but we look at it this way. Michelle is the typically smooth voiced, idol belter. There is one every season, and they always do well - she is this year's Lil Rounds, Syesha Mercado, or whomever it is you prefer.
3) Lilly Scott (7)
This is the girl people were talking about Wednesday morning. As we said last week, no female has ever done well on Idol with the bluesy-rock voice. We just hope she is not the female reincarnation of Taylor Hicks, after all, their hair is about the same color.
2) Siobhan Magnus (5)
Thank god she found glass-blowing, because it is pretty clear this girl isn't getting into Harvard. While she may not be a genius, she does have quite the voice - it should be interesting to see how long there is room for two very good rocker-chicks, another female group which has never done well on the show. That of coure leads us to our new female number one ...
1) Crystal Bowersox (2)
Best vocal last week out of the ladies, she just has to be careful not to get too Melissa Etheridge on us, one Melissa Etheridge in the world is more than enough.
The Guys (Performing Tonight, 8/7c on FOX)
As far as the guys are concerned, not any major shake-up, and looking into our crystal ball we'd be a little suprised if the top 4 guys currently in our rankings don't cruise into the top 10 and Idols Live! summer tour.
10) Tim Urban (12)
Not worthy of a comment, he'll be gone by next week - no sympathy votes this week.
9) Alex Lambert (10)
While we are not big on vulgar language, we appreciate the fact that Alex was honest, and apparently, just as shocked as the rest of America that he would be performing one more week. Of course, we expect this will be Alex's last week on live television - ever (unless there is one day a live show where viewers call in and vote for the worst hair-dos.)
8) Jermaine Sellers (7)
We would say we were shocked he didn't get eliminated last week, but we can't say that with everyone. There were only two guys eliminated, and a whole lot more horrible performances.
7) John Park (4)
For us, the most dissapointing performance of the week. We hadn't seen much of this kid since the whole Shania Twain incident. Fortunately, John gets another chance, and we have a feeling he'll pick it up a bit and be ranked higher in next week's rankings.
6) Todrick Hall (5)
You know - at least he made it his own. He butchered it, but he made it his own - there you go judges!
5) "Big Mike" Lynche (6)
High-energy performance? Yes, he's a personal trainer, what else would you expect? Good vocal performance? Not so much.
4) Aaron Kelley (3)
Well, we were right about this one - when he remembers the words, he is doggone good. While he still looked like he was ready to crap his pants and looked as if his feet were glued to center stage - the kid atleast sung well, good for him.
3) Casey James (8)
Well, we were wrong about this one - pretty boy (who by the way is not that great looking, is he ladies?) can actually sing a little. We know one person who is excited the guy's will be performing tonight instead of tomorrow, Kara DioGuardi.
2) Andrew Garcia (1)
A little dissapointing, but still one of the week's best performances. It's all getting a little boring, a little coffee shop - let's see if he tries something new this week.
1) Lee Dewyze (2)
We said it last week, we'll say it again - watch out for this guy, he is a dark horse, and right now the favorite according us. With that being said, the top 3 guys in our rankings were better than any of the girls last week.
Now, we want to know, do you agree with our rankings? Who is your favorite? Let us know in the comment section below, by e-mail: EntUpdates@gmail.com, or by tweeting us @EntUpdates.
