Jay's New Tonight Show Shaping Up ... Kinda

Jay Leno's new Tonight Show kicks off in less than two weeks on Monday March, 1. While things are coming together, there will be visible changes. You can read about them all after the jump.

Let's start with the good, The Tonight Show has released a new, more subtle logo.

With that however, Kevin Eubanks, Jay's longtime music frontman is leaving the show, and no these two events don't correspond with each other - Kevin didn't hate the logo (that we know of anyways!) Instead, Kev's reason for leaving is simple, he wants to do what he has never been able to do having to be in LA every night, go on a tour. Kevin joined the band at the start of Jay's first Tonight Show reign in 1992, and became the lead man in '95. Early specualtion is that Hootie and the Blowfish are the producers first choice, but the question is would they do the gig?

One more departure to tell you about, John Melendez will no longer be Jay's announcer, however he will stay with the show as a writer.
